The Office
Watching 'The Office', US version. It's actually very good, though David Brent isn't quite as painful to watch as he is in the original UK version. From the one episode I've seen they seem to have stuck to the UK script quite closely. Considering this is on mainstream American TV, NBC, they've actually been quite brave with this adaptation. Braver than, incidentally, the BBC who only showed it on BBC2 even after the successful 1st series.
Tragic news from the UK that Mo Mowlam's died. Hugely popular in the UK, she was the warm and welcoming face of the left. Although probably a little too naive to be successful in governmental politics, she certainly had a big impact on the NI peace process and I hope she was proud of her role in the IRA's recent decision to end the war.
I'm buzzing this evening after my first acupuncture session in months. Acupuncture, for me, seems to stimulate all the basic human functions: towards the end of the session I'm usually desperate to take a piss, immediately afterwards I'm starving, then a few hours later I wanna go party, throughout the whole period I'm horny.
It hasn't stopped raining for 3 days in Macau and, boy, when it rains here it don't mess about.
Got news about my dad. The operation to remove a cyst from his brain was successful and he's up and walking about.
If I hear one more thing about fucking Hong Kong Disneyland I'm gonna scream. Watching the Chinese authorities embrace such an American icon so enthusiastically feels a bit like seeing a born-again Christian in action.
