For those don't follow Liverpool, or even foootball, it's difficult to explain how iconic Steven Gerrard is for Liverpool supporters. Unlike any other footballer in Europe, with the possible exception of Raul in Madrid, he is inextricably connected with his club. He was a supporter as a kid, he's played for Liverpool since the age of 8, he is the heart and soul of the club and it's difficult to imagine a Liverpool team without him.
