Interestingness

I wanted to write something about Flickr because I've found myself using it more and more recently and realised I haven't written about it here or even linked to it here.

Go and look at it for yourself, but it's an online repository for people's photography, plus lots of other things wrapped around it to make a very cool and interesting tool. Their latest thing is called Interestingness, which through all kinds of whiz-bang scientific fabulousness (ie I didn't understand it) is an automated collection of 'interesting' pictures for a particular day. Whether the tool is genuinely picking out the most interesting pictures of that day I can't really say, but what I can say is that every time I go there I end spending much longer than I should there by the sheer quality of some of these images.

It's good to be reminded, every now and again, how cool the web can be.
